Well, it’ll be official today. Kyle Whittingham is taking the head coaching position at the University of Michigan. I have been providing details on the nature of how his departure at Utah went down and how he would definitely be coaching again since earlier in the month. All along, I have said there would be dominoes from this and that Utah’s future staff would be directly shaped from this.
Here is what I have been told as of this morning and what I shared in our Discord VC earlier today. Whittingham is planning on taking a large contingent of the Utah coaching staff with him, leaving Scalley to fill some important positions on his new staff. Some of which have been staples for the Utah program for years. Most notably, Freddie Whittingham and Jim Harding. Many believed them to be the best recruiters and important to the success of the running game.
