The last 2 practices have been excellent. We scrimmaged on Tuesday and had a helmet-only practice on Wednesday. The scrimmage on Tuesday was insanely physical. Starting with the first play that excited the entire offense. Masen Wake caught a hitch and turned and ran over Ace Kaufusi and continued to rumble for 10 more yards. That's what reminded everyone that this is for real. There were dudes knocking heads left and right. Even the quarterbacks were live.
The defense played great but they didn't make as many tackles as they thought they could. Every day in practice when we aren't tackling, they will touch the runner with a finger and say he is down. That all changed during the scrimmage. The offense was breaking tackles left and right but the defense still made a few plays. Cade Finnegan dropped back for a pass on the goal line and got blindsided and the defense picked it up for a 90-yard touchdown.
